Alzheimer n°2
2012
Sound installation
In a room, at first glance empty, a dialogue between two women can be heard. The dialogue, coming from a corner wall provided with an integrated aeration, seems to stem from an adjacent room. The two voices are those of a person suffering from Alzheimer desease and her daughter. A simple everyday activity such as having a manicure turns into an endless struggle.
The installation Alzheimer n°2 is part of a research on the relationship between familiarity, estrangement and hostility developed by the patient. In the installation, the gestures of affection glimpse a distinct reality : Alzheimer’s disease changes the psyche of the patient who distances herself from the situation, from the present and from her loved ones.
