Backstage
2007
Serie of nine black and white and color silver photographs
Backstage is a series of photographs in black and white and color that the artist took Backstage during a fashion parade.
She chose to photograph the models during their preparation before they went on stage as she wanted to immortalise the images between two precise moments: everyday life and the spectacle, the intimate moment when the young women prepare themselves for a public which is awaiting impeccable mannequins.
During the preparation the models are not yet transformed into icons of beauty so the personality of each one is still visible. Her goal was to capture the natural side of the models as well as the sensuality of their regard, their posture and gestures.
In the crowded and stressful atmosphere she found herself photographing people who were extremely concentrated on themselves and also on the crucial moment when they were to be in front of the public.
